Quotes I'm pondering
The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel. - Steve Furtick
Why endeavour to straighten the road of life? The faster we travel, the less there is to see. - Helen Hayes
Some people grow old and wise, and some people just grow old. - Krista Tippett

Book Recommendations
When reading a long dense book such as Ray Dalio’s Principles I usually cycle it with a lighter book in parallel to give my brain a break!
It Takes a Tribe: Building the Tough Mudder Movement is a fantastic light read on the origins of the hugely popular ‘Tough Mudder’ adventure race and the growth of it’s devout community. (8/10)
Since reading I’ve also signed up for Quest Glendalough adventure race.
The Obstacle is the Way: Turn adversity into advantage
A regular theme in the content I consumed in the past two weeks was the importance of facing adversity, setbacks and obstacles in life in order to reach the highest levels of strength, fulfilment, and personal development.
Just as we must suffer physical strain to build stronger muscle, we must suffer emotional pain to develop greater emotional resilience, increased compassion, and a generally happier life.
Our proudest achievements often come in the face of our greatest adversity. Learn to treasure your worst experiences as gripping (if traumatic) new chapters in the epic novel that is your life.
For more on this topic, I recommend The Obstacle is the Way.
