Happy June and welcome to the 22nd issue of ‘How Curious!’ ✌️
Last month was a novel change, the first month without a flight since August 2018! I used this ‘settled’ period to ramp tourist activities up a notch. Highlights included a trip to the FA cup final in Wembley, the rugby 7s in Twickenham, a sofar sounds gig in an art gallery, Balance fitness festival and catching an orchestra by candle light in St-Martin-in-the-fields. ⚽🎨🎻
I use the term 'settled’ pretty loosely. After an unpredictable 12 months working abroad I’ve decided to move on and jump into the next stage of my career. I’m excited to be based in London for the foreseeable future and have a few interesting decisions to make in the coming weeks!🇮🇪 ➡️🇬🇧

If we really understood and remembered that life was impermanent, we would do everything we could to make the other person happy right here and right now. If we spend twenty-four hours being angry at our beloved, it is because we are ignorant of impermanence. - Thich Nhat Hanh
If you have it, use it. If you don’t use it, don’t have it. - Nagisa Tatsumi

Last month’s travel hiatus reduced my reading time, but luckily The Phoenix Project exceeded expectations (10/10!) and now ranks in my top 10 faves. An absolute must read for everyone working in tech!

“The capacity of the plant is equal to the capacity of its bottlenecks,” says Jonah. “Whatever the bottlenecks produce in an hour is the equivalent of what the plant produces in an hour. So … an hour lost at a bottleneck is an hour lost for the entire system.”
The next 2 books on my reading list are:
  1. All the Ghosts in the Machine: Illusions of Immortality in the Digital Age
  2. Educated

I enjoyed the simplicity of this common sense advice from James Clear. It’s a good reminder of super easy steps that can be taken to improve your quality of life.
  1. Drink more water
  2. Get 8 hours of sleep
  3. Walk outside in the sun
  4. Leave your phone on silent
  5. Read a few pages each day
  6. Eat more vegetables and greens
  7. Don’t hang out with toxic people
  8. Work on projects you care about
